LocalStack is headquartered in Zurich/Switzerland, with a development office in Vienna/Austria and remote team members from around the world (incl. US, FR, UK, IN, MX, IE).

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Developer Relations (DevRel) Lead to join our rapidly growing team. As the DevRel Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our DevRel strategy while guiding and mentoring our existing talented young DevRel team. The ideal candidate is a hands on professional with a player-coach attitude who leads and mentors the DevRel team by example while building and maintaining relationships with our growing developer community. You will be a driving force to create a vibrant and engaged developer ecosystem around LocalStack and aligning DevRel initiatives with our company goals. We are looking for someone with a strong background in dev tooling, preferably with AWS expertise, and a proven track record of leadership in the DevRel space.

What you will do

You will use your technical problem solving and communication skills to help LocalStack users (Pro and Enterprise) be successful with our product, and oversee the support engineering process. Specifically, you will:
  • DevRel Strategy and Execution:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive DevRel strategy that aligns with the overall business objectives of LocalStack.

    • Drive initiatives to engage with developers, user groups, and communities to increase awareness and adoption of LocalStack.

  • Team Leadership and Mentorship:

    • Lead and inspire a team of young DevRel professionals, ensuring they are aligned with the overall DevRel strategy and goals and guiding them in effective community engagement and outreach.

    • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to help team members grow and excel in their roles. Foster professional growth so team members can achieve their career goals.

    • Work collaboratively with other departments to align DevRel efforts with overall business objectives.

  • Content Creation and Thought Leadership:

    • Create compelling technical content such as blog posts, tutorials, webinars, and documentation to showcase LocalStack capabilities and best practices.

    • Establish yourself and the team as thought leaders in the developer community through participation in conferences, meetups, and industry events.

  • Technical Expertise and Industry Knowledge:

    • Leverage your deep understanding of the dev tooling space and ideally AWS and/or Azure to contribute to technical discussions and guide the team in providing valuable insights to the community.

    • Stay abreast of industry trends and technology advancements to ensure LocalStack remains at the forefront of developer needs.

  • Community Engagement:

    • Act as the face of LocalStack, personally engaging with developers, communities, and partners through online forums, social media, events, and initiatives representing LocalStack as a thought leader.

    • Cultivate and maintain strong and positive relationships with key influencers and advocates in the cloud developer ecosystem.

  • Product Feedback and Advocacy:

    • Understand the needs and concerns of developers, providing valuable insights to the product and engineering teams.

    • Gather feedback from developers and users to influence product development and improvement.

    • Advocate for the developer community internally, ensuring their needs are considered in product roadmaps and strategies.

  • Metrics and Reporting:

    • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of DevRel initiatives.

    • Regularly report on community engagement, content performance, and other relevant metrics to the leadership team and wider company.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in Developer Relations or a related technical field.

  • Strong technical background, with experience in cloud technologies and development environments. In-depth understanding of the broader dev tooling space, and ideally hands-on experience with AWS.

  • Proven leadership and mentorship skills and a track record of developing and executing on DevRel strategies with the ability to inspire and guide a team of young DevRel professionals.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.

  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with developer communities and creating technical content, such as blog posts, tutorials, and documentation.

  • A passion for building and nurturing developer communities.

Location

This position is ideally based in the United States (ET) to facilitate direct engagement with our largest and fastest growing market in the U.S., while also being able to find sufficient time overlaps with our engineering teams spanning across Europe and APAC.

We provide a remote-friendly work environment, and can accommodate flexible work hours (and timezones). We focus on output rather than process, and try to keep things as lean and agile as possible, to achieve the best possible efficiency and velocity. We are currently working in a remote setup spread across different geos - with part of the core team based in Zurich/Switzerland and Vienna/Austria, and remote locations around the world.
